All happy

No news is good news? It seems everything is working well; a few bugs here and there still, but we'll get to them ;)

Feel free to play with the Explore Concepts demo... think Google Sets, but in a semantic network. I'm not sure why the web frontend is slow; the backend code is plenty fast. We'll figure that out sometime; for now, just be patient.

Any bugs, feature requests, ideas, etc., welcome; feel free to comment here.

could you share the url or a download link, please?

You can download the ConceptNet database and API from the ConceptNet link on the sidebar.

i downloaded the analogy space from Robert speer's website however it only contains the values of Principal components and not the labels (indicating which is the concept).
rendering it useless.
could you please tell in which way the values are given are all concepts arranged alphabetically?

thanks.

Well, there seems to be a slight problem when browsing through many pages of assertions when rating them: alots seems to show up more than once! Looks like the DB results are not unique or ordered or something along those lines.

Actually, I also think you really, really need pagination for user pages. I can't seem to browse to my contribs page anymore, probably due to too many contributions?

Another bug, probably related to why user "sandos" does not work:

This gives an error:

Hi - if it is possible, could I request the addition of a new data entry template possibly for the hasProperty page namely, .... have.... / .... has.... It would be good for statements like "airplanes have wings", "cubes have six sides", It seems awkward to say "a cubes is a six sided thing" or "an airplane is an object with wings".

Also could I request that a tally of the number of contributions be displayed on the homepage, perhaps with some sort of graphic indicating how well the project is progressing. More information generally would be good about how OpenMind is going to be used, how many entries it is thought might be needed. Also at this early stage, what do you need most... validation of existing statements or new statements?

while i'm being picky... the list that appears on the right hand side for rating thumbs up / down / flag for correction is really useful. But when you submit the feedback, the flagged items don't clear... so eventually you just end up with a full list of flagged items, and no further statements to rate.

the 'Open Mind wants to know' feature isn't working correctly - both the plus and minus buttons seem to count as the same... reinforcing the assertion

i could make a Japanese version. you have a template for interface translation?

the 'Open Mind wants to know' feature isn't working correctly - THERE IS NO button to provide any feedback

how many bits of knowledge in total? No stats page anywhere?

whiterabbit said...

is the project dead? no posts for half-a-year?

whiterabbit said...

is there anyway to bulk load my knowledge? I can generate large lists of facts programmatically by searching the web for patterns, like "is a kind of"...
can I email my results to someone for loading into the database, or do I also need to write my own tools to programmatically submit via http post?

no HELP anywhere to explain the meaning of "fix"? Does clicking FIX flag it for an admin? Why not open OpenMind so that anyone can also FIX something and we can vote on the FIX?

please make openmind better. it's being neglected. what a shame. get someone to make it better. it could get a lot more users if it was enhanced a bit. Maybe a facebook app so people can add a submit knowledge widget to their profile...

when people visit openmind in August 08 and see no posts on the blog since Feb of 2008 they are likely to think the project is abandoned and never come back. can't you get some more students added as a moderator/admin so they can keep the site alive?
